APPENDIX A:  REPORT of CURRENT U.S. CENSUS DATA

New Hampshire “High Need” School Districts

According to NCLB Title IID federal program guidelines dated March 11, 2002 (p.12) (see www.ed.gov/programs/edtech/legislation.html), funding should be targeted toward “high need districts.” These would be districts whose numbers or percentages of children from families with incomes below the poverty line are above the state median (see www.census.gov/hhes/www/saipe/) AND who have either one or more “schools in need of improvement” OR a substantial need for assistance in acquiring and using technology.  The following districts are eligible to apply for this round of NCLB Title II-D funds. Districts that are not listed here are not eligible to apply according to the federal guidelines.
