  1. Where can I get a copy of the teacher certification standards for Computer Technology Educator?

The standards for Computer Technology Educator are numbered as education rule #507.22. They can be viewed online at http://www.ed.state.nh.us/Certification/rules507-01to612-05.htm.

  1. If I already have NH teacher certification in another area, how do I apply for this certification?

If you already have NH certification, you should call or write to the Bureau of Credentialing at the NH Department of Education to request materials. Your letter or phone request should include your name and address and should indicate that you are currently certified in New Hampshire. You should also visit the Bureau’s web page at http://www.ed.state.nh.us/Certification/teacher.htm for more information.

  1. Am I eligible to apply for Alternative 2?

If you received a degree in computer technology education in another state from an institution of higher education, approved by that state’s Department of Education, you are eligible to apply for Alternative 2. If the degree is more than three years old you may be required to show evidence of professional growth in the last three years.   1. Am I eligible to apply for Alternative 3?

If you do not have a degree in computer technology education but have computer technology teaching experience, you may be eligible to pursue Alternative 3. To qualify for the Alternative 3 process, you are required to document your experience and knowledge of the standards (competencies) and, once approved, to sit before a review board.   1. Am I eligible to apply for Alternative 4 or Alternative 5?

  1. Which NH colleges currently offer a program for certification as a Computer Technology Educator?

As of August 2001, three NH institutions (Keene State College, Plymouth State College, and Southern New Hampshire University) have approved teacher preparation programs for this certification area.
