Student Standards
Contact:Cathy Higgins
The Office of
Educational Technology at the New Hampshire Department of Education often
receives inquiries about educational technology curriculum standards.
Student
Educational Technology Standards: At the present time, there is no New Hampshire
Curriculum Framework for Computer Technology. It is possible that a
framework will be developed in the future, although no specific timeline
has been set for this endeavor. To build such a framework, the national
student standards created as part of the "NETS Project" would be used as a
frame of reference. Schools are strongly encouraged to use the NETS-S
document as they consider how to use technology tools in their curriculum
planning.
Related
Standards within Existing Frameworks: Using the existing NH
Curriculum Frameworks (Career Development, English Language Arts, Math,
Science, Social Studies, and The Arts), our office has compiled a list of those standards that relate directly
to technology.
NH Computer
Literacy Standards: The document "Minimum Standards for New Hampshire
Schools" contains technology related minimum standards that must be
met by students (Ed 306.27 Computer Education Program). These standards may
also be found on the NH General Court web site at http://gencourt.state.nh.us/rules/ed300.html.
To locate the specific standards (306.27), you can use the
"find" feature of your web browser to search for the term
"computer" or the 306.27 standards.
