Electronic Portfolios: emerging Practices for Students,
Faculty and Institutions

Portfolios are increasingly becoming the means of demonstrating the skills, experiences, and accomplishments of teachers. The portfolio strategy is an assessment tool that allows the gathering of multiple measures during the teacher preparation program. Student teachers were provided assessment rubrics for designing a web site and for developing portfolio tasks based on national and state new teacher standards.

During the winter, 2004 semester, Keene State College, Rivier College, New England College, and Plymouth State University collaborated with the North Country, South Central, and Southwestern Professional Development Centers to assist pre-service teachers and teacher preparation faculty in the creation of materials for web-based digital portfolios.

Southern NH University has also been busy helping pre-service teachers create e-portfolios. Their work, combined with that of Keene State, Plymouth State, New England and Rivier Colleges, demonstrates the variety of approaches to e-portfolio creation across teacher preparation programs in New Hampshire.
